Domingo: Feria Medieval, Alcala de Henares

Today, I took a bus with a few other auxiliares to Alcala de Henares. It's the second largest populated city in la Comunidad de Madrid, and it's the birthplace of Cervantes (first Spanish novelist, writer of Don Quijote). The trip was my first excursion out of the capital, and it was a merry day. I've posted some photos! Enjoy..

In the background is what remains of the church where Cervantes was baptized, possibly.
This Spanish person who told me this was not certain!

Medieval flags were strung up and down all of the streets near the center of Alcala.

Five auxiliares de conversacion standing in front of the
replicated version of Certantes' childhood home.

Name these literary heroes!

There were street vendors everywhere! We couldn't see what the city actually looks like..

Can anyone guess what this is? HINT: It's 7 years old.

Dulcinea's Croissenteria

Mom, the Spanish call these "tetillas" Can you believe it?

Children riding donkeys.

La Universidad is the second oldest in Spain. Salamanca's is the oldest
and that's where my mom studied!

This is all that remains of the front of the church where Cervantes was baptised
The majority of it was destroyed during the Spanish Civil War.

Auxiliares in space that was once taken up by the church.

They made the ruins of the old church into a pretty plaza.

  1. Que es esa cosa de uvas, calabaza y ajo? Quiero saberlo!
Las tetillas me recuerdan a las tetones grandes. Te acuerdas como le gustaba decir el nombre de esos picos tu hermano?
